Spelling Champions again olé olé

On Thursday 19th June, eight of our brilliant Year 7 linguists headed to Judgemeadow Community College to take part in the hotly contested LET Finals Spelling Champs competition

Representing our school with pride and passion were four Spanish students — Madelin, Aleena, Maryam and Rozya — and four French students — Alayna, Saarah, Sabeeka and Amrah. These students have been working hard all year, mastering a list of 150 tricky words in their chosen language.

In fast-paced one-minute rounds, students had to translate random words from English into French or Spanish and spell them out using the correct alphabet — all under pressure!

But all that hard work paid off. We’re thrilled to share that we took home first place in the Schools Competition for both French and Spanish!

And it didn’t stop there — the Individual Competition saw even more success, with Saarah crowned French champion, and Maryam taking first place in Spanish.

A huge congratulations to all of our competitors. Your resilience, confidence and dedication have made us incredibly proud. You’ve shown what teamwork, determination and a love of languages can achieve — and we couldn’t be more delighted.
